With the advent of the Motor Vehicle, there also came the Automobile Societies and the Events that they Promoted. None older (1895) nor more finer than the Automobile Club of France. You are bidding on a genuine vintage dated 1905 Automobile Club of France Societe d’Encouragement Ribboned Medal in the original flip box. There is a swivel claw clasp that closes and opens the lid. Bronze with Green Ribbon. Solid Bronze Medallion is double-Sided with a 1-1/4″ Diameter. Front depicts a Liberty Lady with an automobile to her left and the Famous ACF Logo to her right. I believe awarded to those that participated in the “Concours Vehicules Industriels” Event in 1905. This Medallion is the point reached by two lines, whereby one line is Art Nouveau Paris Art and the other line is the Early Automobile. I am not sure of the engraver but it very well could be Auguste Maillard, known for these type of medallions during this time period for the ACF. To give you and ideal of how old this item is, this Club started the famous 24 Hours of LeMans and the French Grand Prix. This Award Medal predates those Legendary Races by one year. This is High End Automobile Memorabilia. It blends fine Art Nouveau Paris Artisan Craftsmanship into the passion of the early automobile. Very few Auto Enthusiasts have such an item in their collection. This one is even rare in France. Today in America for participating in Car Shows and Rallyes you are given a thin tin “Dash Plaque”. Things were different some 118 years ago. You had to have been a participant in this Concours Event to get one this medaille (medal). The Ribbon is in Good Condition. The Bronze Medallion is Excellent Condition. I believe the value of this one is much more than what is listed here for here.
