This listing is for an insect collection that contains twenty-four (24) pin-mounted insect specimens from the eastern U.S.A., mostly the northeast region. It is housed in an old Top Stone cigar box that has some Styrofoam glued to the inside bottom. The cigar box is vintage, with wear and marks, and measures 7″ X 6″ X 3 ¼”. This collection was made to look like a student’s insect collection, the sort of thing someone might have to make for a science class or college course. It could be used or kept as an actual insect collection but would also be perfect as a prop in a movie or photo shoot. For long-term storage as a collection, some fumigant should be added since no box is air tight enough to keep out pests. The collection you see is the collection you will receive. The specimens are in decent shape but many have imperfections, so please look closely at the photos. None of the specimens have data labels but the collection will come with a species list and key, as shown. Larger specimens will be pinned into place with extra pins to keep them from moving around in transit. You can see a pair of pins crossed over the abdomen of the Polyphemus moth (the biggest insect in the box) as an example. More pins will be added to other specimens when this ships.
