Ok, I wish I knew exactly what this type of pedestalled bowl is called, but for right now I’m calling it a wood shavings and silk bowl. It was made in the Victorian Era, I am thinking around the 1860s, of wire, cardboard, wood shavings and red silk taffeta fabric. To me it is a marvelous object of art from the high Victorian Era where people didn’t just toss away items, but used what was at hand. I am inclined to believe that this was homemade by a lady using an article found in a magazine such as La Mode Illustree, Godey’s Ladies Magazine etc. Arts and Crafts was widely encouraged for women to decorate their houses or sell items at bazars!Please see photos for condition and flaws Measurements:5″ tall5 1/2″ diameter at top3 1/4″ diameter at base Listing for pedestaled only, lace table runner and glass dish not included This item is sold as is, as it is a vintage or antique piece.
