Hi! You’re looking at an excellent condition book which is RARE, hard to find and OUT OF PRINT and a classic biography of New York Mayor JIMMY WALKER written by GENE FOWLER–the book is an unstated FIRST EDITION published in 1949 by The Viking Press and a HARDCOVER with the ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET and is NOT a remainder copy and NOT price-clipped, with the original $4.00 price in the upper corner of the front inner flap. This book is in excellent condition and the book itself has a very slight crease on the upper center spine edge, slight dings on the spine and a couple of the opening tips and just slight shelfwear and slight evidence of gentle browsing but no other significant flaws; the dustjacket has small tears on the spine and opening tips, a small tear on the lower right corner of the back cover, a few tiny tears on the upper edges, light creases on the spine edges of the covers, very slight sunning (fading) on the spine end, some very light scuffs and just light shelfwear but no other significant imperfections! The book is titled Beau James: The Life and Times of Jimmy Walker and it was written by GENE FOWLER; it was published by The Viking Press in April 1949 and is a 1st EDITION copy.This book is a chronicle of the life and career of the colorful New York Mayor Jimmy Walker, who colorful exploits among the city’s show people (he ultimately left his wife for Ziegfield Follies girl Betty Compton) and scandal-ridden Tammany Hall-influenced administration ultimately led to his resignation.A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this book!Thanks for looking, and good luck if you’re bidding!
