Up for sale is this vintage Columbian 4″ Jaws – Red No.04 Swivel Bench Vise – In good Condition. This vise has a 4″ wide jaw and will open to 4″ . This vise when I found had difficulty opening and closing. I did not intend on spending a hour on cleaning it up but I am glad I did. I ended up taking the vise completely apart and cleaning up the surface rust on the lower sliding bar. I also straightened out the c clip that goes around the lead screw . This clip is what bears on the inside of the movable jaw so the jaw will open when you turn the screw handle. With a little oil the jaw now opens and closes easily. The jaw caps are clean and flat with no signs of abuse. There are some minor signs on the top of the jaws of hacksaw marks but nothing serious. The paint job shows use and age, You can paint it if you want but as it is this vise will work great. Also the Base swivel also works well as it should.
