eBay FRANCOISE DEBERDT “Herisson de Beaulieu” 1974 Ref. 199, “Francoise Deberdt” Aquatint Etching Pencil Signed and Numbered 90/100 Certificate of Authenticity “The subtlety of her color values, the balance of her compositions, which often involve an astonishing number of elements, the fanciful, almost fairy tale quality of her subjects–all combine to produce images filled with humor, humanity and an intense love of life.” Born in France (1934). Master of the skills of printmaking, and painting including watercolors, she has had major shows throughout the world: London, Sydney, Tokyo, San Francisco, Amsterdam, to name a few prominent cities. Her formal art training took her to Paris, Legueult, and Rome. Her painting and graphic work are highly emanated throughout the world and housed in prominent collections and museums. DETAILS: The Hedgehog is one of Deberdt’s favorite subjects. This early edition aquatint etching is in near excellent condition. While there are no mounting marks, there is a very light discoloration about 1″ around the image plate. Otherwise, there is no wear to the print. The print is unframed, and has been stored flat in an archival folder for some time. The paper image measures 23″ x 30 3/4″ and the plate image measures 15″x 19 1/2″. The print is signed and numbered in pencil, 90/100. The paper watermark says Chiffon de la Dore. The edition is 100 numbered Arabic plus proofs, 5 EA’s. The print was purchased from Bowles Hopkins in San Francisco, 1978. On the back at the top in pencil is the title. In there lower left corner is a embossed stamp of the printer, Orangerie, Cologne. These prints sold out rapidly and are hard to find. The last value I have for the print from was $400. from the 80’s. An authenticity will be provided.
