In nature these succulents can reach heights of 20 feet, but are typically grown as more manageable potted ornamentals. Firesticks Cactus is not a true cactus and instead belongs to the Euphorbia family along with Crown of Thorns and other popular succulents. Living up to the Firestick portion of its name, this plant extends vibrant bare stems that shift color depending upon light exposure. In low light environments, stems will fade to a lime green color where in high light they take on striking red and orange tones. These plants are a one of a kind addition to rock and succulent gardens. They are the perfect choice for the neglectful gardener as they will tolerate a wide range of poor soil conditions and thrive with very little water.
