eBay Great Colors! HUGE THICK SLAB! 11.2 oz slab. Creamy greens, yellows and tan colors in this Kona Dolomite! Beautiful color gradations. KONA DOLOMITE FROM MARQUETTE COUNTY MICHIGAN! This is the ONLY place in the world that this type of Dolomite is found…..very rare, and hard to find! 2 Billion years old! We specialize in Rare Kona colors and have tons of it. I have many, many Kona slabs (600+) and will be listing them this winter. I also have approximately 4000lbs of slab sized and tumble size Kona rough available. Inquire for a custom listing. Approximate dimensions of 5.5″ x 3.25″ and approximately 12-14 mm THICK cut. Approximately 11.2 oz or 316 grams. This is not polished. There are a couple light scuffs from the slab saw. First two photos are wet. Last 3 are dry. It’s hard to capture the color depth in the bright fall sun when these photos were taken. As with all dolomites, there are some visible fractures in this sample, which is common for Kona Dolomite. These are usually completely healed through deep earth processes of heat and pressure. Awesome specimen that would be great for display, or make some outstanding cabs. Lots of cabs in this large and thick slab. Kona will take a great shine and polish. Please see photos for more details. As with all rocks there may be fractures or imperfections and sold as-is with no returns. Named after the Kona Hills south of Marquette County, Michigan where it is found. Kona Dolomite is an ancient rock in which formations of fossil stromatolite (blue-green algae) occur. The stone is between 2.1 to 2.2 billion years old. These stromatolite formations are from some of the first life on earth. These fossil formations are found in the lower eras of the Middle Precambrian Period. Because of the great age, and due to the many trace minerals present, kona dolomite can be found in a wide variety of shades including pink, brown, yellow, cream, red and orange with shades of brown, cream, gray and black mottling, banding and lacing. KONA DOLOMITE IS ONLY FOUND IN ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD……MICHIGAN’s UP! If you are going to bid on multiple items, we will leave the box open for you to save on shipping.
