The rims are identical, so transitioning between flugel and trumpet mid-gig is easy. The rim used on this piece is identical to Mr. Sandoval’s Bach Mt. Vernon 3C (.642″ inside diameter), the cup is a deep V flugel cup, and the backbore is the Legends flugel backbore. The heavy blank adds core and enhances that fluffy flugel sound. Used alone, or as part of the trumpet and flugel mouthpiece kit, you’ll enjoy this mouthpiece for that smooth latin jazz sound. The “standard” taper fits Yamaha and other American flugelhorns, except Bach. The “small” taper fits Bach, Courtois, LeBlanc (including Sandoval), and Kanstul models 725, 1025, and 1525.
