Based in St. Imier near La Chaux Fonds and Le Locle, the heart of Swiss watch manufacture, Longines had the distinction of being the world's finest watch manufacturer and the brand for chronograph watches for over 100 years. This watch was made in 1969 and the Ultrachron product was launched in 1969. So this piece is over 50 years old. This is a very special piece in a solid square Swiss-made case and it's got the finest in-house manufacture movement caliber 431 which is a high-speed automatic chronometer (officially certified) The winding rotor of the chronometer watch comes with an 18k gold edge. This special caliber, one of the finest ones of its period, was introduced in 1969 by the company. High speed, that is 36000 beats was a spectacular technical achievement of its time to make, enabling the watch to be highly accurate. This was also a very slim movement, thus an achievement in Swiss chronometry of the highest standard. It came in both configurations of standard and chronometer- this piece is the chronometer.
