Midwest Importers Cast Iron Santa In Sleigh Christmas Stocking Holder Hanger

This is a beautiful solid cast iron vintage stocking holder in excellent pre-owned condition with no signs of wear from use.   It is sold in the original box, which does show some wear and tear due to age, mostly scuffs and tape damage and a hole in the front where the hanger portion has poked out.  The stocking holder is constructed in two pieces, consisting of the Santa’s Sleigh and the base.  The base does show some rough spots which is typical of many cast iron pieces.

   Decorate your home in anticipation of Santa’s visit with stockings hanging from festive stocking hangers.  Crafted from cast iron, this stocking hanger placed on a mantel, shelf, or any other flat surface will securely hold a stocking filled to the brim!  Personalize the front panel with a special someone’s name so Santa will be certain whose stocking he’s filling!   This sleigh makes a complete set with the 4 reindeer offered in my other listing.

This beautiful stocking holder weighs 1 pound 6 ounces is 5 inches tall from where it sits upon the mantel (not including the metal stocking hook which extends an additional 3/4 inch below) and the base measures 3-3/4 inches wide and 2-1/4 inches deep.  The bottom has textured red rubber material to prevent slippage and protect your mantel from scratches.  The back of the reindeer is marked “M.I.” with the copyright mark, and there is a paper tag that states “Midwest Importers of Cannon Falls Inc.” and “Made in Taiwan”  which tends to date the item as pre-1980’s when imported items from China entered the US market on a wider distribution.  Prior to those dates, items from Taiwan were much more common as imports from China were restricted by the US government.  Additionally, there is no barcode on the box which also dates the stocking holder prior to the 1980’s.
