You are buying an A4 modern print of the vintage pattern and not the finished item. Due to age you may see marks on your pattern, but all instructions will be clear and readable. This is a superb 1940s pattern to complement the three male armed service dolls, (Sailor, Soldier and Airman) in my shop, and is for the female service dolls of the era, namely representing the W.A.A.F., A.T.S. and W.R.N.S.. They have wonderfully accurate uniforms! The only finished size is for the W.A.A.F. doll which stands about 12 inches in height when completed, but logically the other dolls should be of similar height when completed. No tension information is given, nor is there any chart or diagram for the embroidered features on the face or uniform. All toys were originally knitted in 4-ply yarn oddments with the option of 3-ply given for the W.A.A.F. and A.T.S., however, you may wish to use a modern D/K in place of the vintage 4-ply or a modern 4-ply in place of the vintage 3-ply as vintage yarns were heavier than modern to obtain similar results to those in the original pattern. The caps on all lady’s have a little basic crochet to finish them off, namely d.c. and / or ch. stitches, with the W.R.N.S. cap having a little cardboard to help with the shaping. A wonderful pattern in every way for historical dolls which would make perfect gifts or mascots and to sell at vintage rallies!
