eBay Vintage French Oil Painting, Seascape, Port of Nice, French Riviera, Boat, Signed Louis Adami This charming vintage French view of the port of Nice, on the French Riviera, is in oil on canvas board. As titled on the back “Tartane au Port de Nice”, a typical Mediterranean fishing sailing boat called “Tartane” is in the foreground, two figures can be discerned on the ship. A harbor crane is in the distance and the Old Town of Nice (Vieux Nice) and the mountains are in the background. It is signed “L. Adami”. Louis Adami, French painter active in Nice between the two world wars, exhibited at the salons of the Société des Beaux-Arts in Nice during the 1930’s. The back bears the label of the renowned “Sennelier” art supply store in Paris. Framed, this piece is in good condition, with the exception of signs of wear on the edges of the canvas, not visible when framed, and tears and stains on the paper on the back.
