White Star Line, RMS “Olympic” 8.5″ chamfered pine window upright trim/beading recovered from one of the 1st class Grand Staircase windows, from the upper sections (pictured), later re installed within the paint factory at Haltwhistle, with full provenance, c-1911. I saved this piece of teak trim, from the windows when they were being restored, it would date from the ship. My restorer stripped the paint from this section, but it was found to be cracked and quite weak, so was replaced with a stronger piece of Olympic wood to maintain the strength and integrity of the windows original glazing. It shows traces of the ‘Adam’ green paint, as well as the later white paint used whilst the windows had been installed at Haltwhistle. This piece of beading was unusual as it was made in pine, it came from the window (pictured, on the outward side the window had the typical teak trim/beading, but internally the trim/beading was painted pine, one assumes from one of the ships refits. The glass that this trim was holding in place before replacement during restoration due to it condition, was covered in Adam green paint, so this pine trim was definitely original to the ship, I am just unsure what period, it is a s well made and finshed as the standard seen teak trim on the other side, this was the only window that was finished off in this manner.This section was replace as it was split and no longer strong enough to support keeping in the original glass panes as shown, it was part stripped to the original bare wood, but traces of the dark green (Haltwhistle era) paint can be seen, original to the ship.In condition as shown, but it’s still a piece of the Olympic herself.Last photo shows similar trims in situ prior to being removed for restoration.Discussed in detail within my blog.Dimensions:- 14″ long.Each article will come along with a certificate of authenticity.
