This bird is showcased in this beautiful metal lantern display. He is perched on a piece of faux moss rock and is surrounded by preserved flowers, moss, fern and tree, berries, a real snail and a real lady bug! A lovebird is one of nine species of the genus Agapornis . They are a social and affectionate small parrot. Their name comes from the parrots’ strong, monogamous pair bonding and the long periods which paired birds spend sitting together. Lovebirds live in small flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses and seed. Lovebirds are 13 to 17 cm (5 to 7 in) in length and 40 to 60 g (11⁄2 to 2 oz) in weight. They are among the smallest parrots, characterized by a stocky build, a short blunt tail, and a relatively large, sharp beak.
